McNames Law PLLC was founded in 2023 by John McNames, a licensed North Carolina attorney.
A Winston-Salem native, John graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill with a B.A. in Political Science in 2009. He received his J.D. from Florida Coastal Law School in 2012 and passed the North Carolina Bar Exam in July 2012.
John first began practicing real estate law as a Staff Attorney in the Winston-Salem office of a transatlantic AmLaw 100 firm where he primarily focused on creditor's rights and foreclosure matters. He represented lenders, loan servicers, and private equity firms in foreclosures, receiverships, and workouts involving distressed commercial real estate loans throughout the state of North Carolina.
In 2017, John joined a small business law firm in Winston-Salem as an Associate (and later Partner), where his focus shifted to commercial real estate transactions. John represented a wide range of individuals small businesses in acquisitions and refinances of commercial real estate.
More recently, John joined the Winston-Salem office of a global AmLaw 100 firm as Counsel where his focus transitioned back towards creditor's rights matters and he primarily represented loan servicers in the enforcement of distressed commercial real estate loans.
John lives in Winston-Salem and is happily married to his wife, Lauren. Together they have two young boys. He enjoys spending time with his family, watching Tar Heel sports, and attempting to play golf.
